about

With "Poisonous Ivy" Suzan Köcher's Suprafon is presenting the second single from their upcoming album which will be released in the fall on Unique Records. A motoric Kraut beat builds the basis for dashing guitars and a Synth riff that is dark and catchy at the same time - above all floats Suzan's majestic voice, which connects closeness and distance like no other. "Poisonous Ivy was originally intended as an acoustic folk song - it was only during the rehearsals that we cast it into its current form", says Suzan.
Suzan Köcher and her band are here to start the second chapter of their psychedelic journey that began with the magical debut album "Moon Bordeaux" which was rightly praised as one of a kind. For the second record the musicians are now even more focussed on their true strengths. Inspired by a trip to Prague they wrote a song cycle called Suprafon which eventually gave name to the band itself: Suzan Köcher's Suprafon. To maintain their focus on record they flew all the way to Austin, Texas to record their new album that is both - a natural evolution and a brand new start. While the energy of the band lingered around the corner on "Moon Bordeaux“ it is now in full flight on these new songs.
The band's mystical Psychedelia is infused with beautiful melodies, biting guitars and reverberated synths. Shades of Krautrock, Psych-Folk and French Pop float through the new songs that are at once enthralling and loose. Through many live shows Suzan Köcher's Suprafon have developed a unique sound fueled by Suzan´s magical voice, her haunting melodies, fearless experimentation and rusty musical instruments that colour their sound in all shades of withered glory.
Suzan Köcher's Suprafon invite you into a world that still has time for unforgettable experiences. There is so much to see and hear, so much to discover when you take your time and step out of the rush of daily life. Let them take you on a trip to the nearest far away place.

lyrics

Darkness rushes in
I feel it on my skin
The day is dawning and the moon comes to life

I thought he was my friend
But I know in the end
He can be salty sometimes

Can you guess my name, I'm the poisonous Ivy
Can you feel the pain I'm malicious and deadly
And I can be healing but nobody loves me

My heart is beating slow
Why is it I don't know
The time or place I'm in but soon I'm alive

I thought you were my end
But you turned out to mend
Life’s unexpected sometimes

Can you guess my name, I'm the poisonous Ivy
Can you feel the pain I'm malicious and deadly
And I can be healing but nobody loves me

Don’t play a game with the poisonous Ivy
I won’t take the blame if the ending is deadly
You go up in flames when you touch me
You’ll see
